Mirrored Accents
Michelle reveals that mirrored accents will be a hot in 2011, including mirrored tables and mirrored accessories such as cocktail trays, martini glasses, and coasters. You can pick up a mirrored tray from Aero for $90, a set of four Etsy martini glasses for $42, and mirrored coasters at Z Gallerie for $19.80.
Typography
The fourth hottest trend for 2011 is typography. Michelle predicts that modern art will be huge in 2011, and it instantly freshens up the home. Looking to add some typography to your home? Michelle suggests visiting MadeByGirl (Madebygirl.com) and browsing her posters and prints area to find new artwork for your home.
Michelle predicts that the third hottest trend of 2011 will be storage art, primarily clear, Lucite storage to show off accessories instead of hiding them away. Vintage desks can be used as vanities to store shoes, clear stands can be used to show off necklaces, and scarf holders, like the one displayed from Ikea, can be hung from the wall to show off colorful accessories. You can find Lucite bins from Muji or the Container Store for under $20.
The second hottest trend for 2011 is mid-century lighting, inspired by the recent "Mad Men" decor craze! Mid-century lighting can be added to both traditional and shabby chic rooms. Ikea carries a mid-century style lamp, the Kulla table lamp, which sells for an affordable $49.99.
Michelle's hottest trend of 2011 is the color rust. Rust has been growing in popularity on runways and designer home decor, and the trend will takeoff in 2011! Add rust to your home with a rust headboard or a rust-colored side table (West Elm currently sells one for $129) and add subtle accents of rust to your wardrobe with accessories such as the necklace pictured, from Nicole Richie's House of Harlow collection.
